I'm afraid the Shelby Valley players may be a little too focused on playing Elliott County. While Elliott appears to have a cakewalk to the semi's, I think SV will have to play a pretty good game to beat the Danville/NCC winner, and I'm not sure about Henry County since I've not seen them play. If SV is looking ahead to Elliott then they may fall before they get there.

Shelvy Valley is the one team EC will have the most trouble matching up with because of the size in their front court. Heck, even Holmes would have trouble matching up with SV. Knipp will have a lot of trouble against the 6'10 kid from Valley and Ferguson will have trouble against 6'6 Hatfield.

 

You won't see SV match up to anyone in man-to-man, as they pretty much exclusively play a 2-3 zone. Valley's guards are relatively small at 5'11 and 5'10, but the front court goes 6'3, 6'6, and 6'10 with 6'7 and 6'5 coming off the bench...

Here is hoping they play a 2-3 zone (at least for a while). They may have to re-think the strategy after a short time.

 

Also now with the new format the bottom bracket gets no rest after the SF game at 10:00 on Sunday morning. At least the top bracket gets 4.5 hours of break where as the bottom bracket will turn around and play about 2 hours after finishing their SF game. Elliott doesn't have a lot of depth and that could be a real factor in the final should they even get there. At least in the State Tournament in March you get at least about 6-7 hours of rest before playing the final and NOT 2 HOURS.

Didn't Cedar Hill play some zone against EC?

None of the posters from Elliott County are predicting a cakewalk to the Semi's. This will be a toough tournament from start to finish. Rankings mean nothing.

I agree that EC could shoot just about anyone out of a zone. SV's zone is very aggressive. This is not a pack it in and dare somebody to shoot zone.

I think the Cedar Hill team is better than SV. Some teams can play zone against Elliott. I have not seen the 2-3 played by SV, but I would venture a guess and say they have some type of 1/2 court man to use when necessary. If both teams are fortunate enough to make through the quarterfinals, I think we will see an alternating defense.
