12th Region "As-of-today" Rankings

That's why tonights blow out is so confusing. LC beat Wayne and West badly (about like tonight) and had a battle, but win, against East.

I don't think tonight was too confusing. As you said at halftime and in an earlier post: Lincoln just didn't make any shots. If they shoot better, Garrard might still win, but it's a much closer ballgame. That's why in my opinion Garrard gets credit for the win, but I toss out the margin.

Wow! Congrats Garrard. Not looking forward to playing you guys this weekend.

Even though Garrad does not play Wayne in the regular season. They did beat them in their pre season scrimmage.

They did beat Wayne Co. in the pre-season scrimmage. Not alot comes from a scrimmage, but they did beat them at Wayne County. Garrard is the real deal people!

As mentioned scrimmages dosent really matter but Mccreary beat Garred pretty handley without Watts and Roark. But good Rankings, Thanks for all the info.

Garrard has a great young coach in Lee DeForrest.

I think he is the best young coach in the area. He does a great job of teaching that offense.

This region is just so hard to guage. Good thing this is the "As-of-today" rankings because after Garrards performance against Lincoln, I don't know if Lincoln is the top team in the region. Wayne and McCreary haven't shown the consistency to be that team either.

Based on last night Garrard needs to be considered #1 after giving Lincoln one of it's worst in Region whippings in last 3 years

Was it a whipping or a whooping?:lol:

I'll agree with you. In my opinion Garrard is probably the 2008-2009 12th Region winner.

Garrard is a good team, and could very well win this region.

But this team has zero post season experience. That could be a good thing, but most certainly could be a bad thing.

I think you look at it like this:

Lincoln County, McCreary Central, Wayne County, and Garrard County would beat all remaining teams in this region 7 out of 10 times. I think it comes down to who is playing the best out of these four teams come tournament time. (And maybe the Jessamines)

It is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too early to be calling anyone a region winner. SSF, you know as well as anyone what can happen to perceived regional champions.

You are exactly right about experience. It might be a positive and it might be a negative depending on how things go. The last district tournament win Garrard has over someone not named KSD or Burgin was beating Mercer County for the district championship in 2004. To go a step further, the last district tournament game won on the opponent's floor (which might be have to happen this year against Boyle County) was a buzzer-beater at Harrodsburg in 1993.

Since the school opened 45 years ago, Garrard County has only won five games in regional tournament play. The last win came against Lincoln County in 1982! So experience is definitely lacking.

With all of that being said, however, Lincoln County won the last two regional titles and the rub on them for years was the inability to win playoff games. So you just never know.

A very good win for Garrard Co. last night but that is just one game. In my opinion The Region still runs through Lincoln Co. and there is still alout of basketball to play. Again congrats to Garrard for a big win last night.

Figuratively and literally. Regional tournament being played in Stanford should definitely be an advantage for the Pats.
