I think he has the ability to become one. I don't think he is yet. Which is fine considering he is only a junior. After watching them in the games where they struggled, I felt like he disappeared when they needed someone to step up and get a basket. Again Highlands is great against teams like Boone and I think they'll beat Beechwood because those teams aren't as defense oriented and like to get out and run and play uptempo. They struggle against the teams that slow it down and don't allow easy drives to the baskets and easy buckets in the post.

I would agree with that. Grote is a tough kid, and he seems to be the one who wants to step up. His biggest problem, like the rest of the team, is his nonexistent outside shot.

Shot well off the dribble against CCH. Took them from a 1 pt to a 6 pt lead in two possessions.

I've been saying this since last year when he was a soph. He provides a nice 1-2 punch offensively between he and Steve K and his defense is probably one of the best in NKY.

Well I guess you can serve me some crow then. I just have yet to see him make an outside jumper in the games I've attended. I really like his game though. He drives aggressively and goes strong to the basket, and also has a great midrange jumpshot that he pulls up for.

He has a nice jump shot and really elevates when he shoots. I think he needs to shoot more so he can solidify himself as a true outside threat for the Birds.

That is what I meant more when I made that statement about his shot being non existent. I didn't know if he was a good or bad outside shooter... I just hadn't seen him even look at the basket from out there.
