January 12, 200917 yr This was a night to award excellence. Everyone knows how he died. I think watching what would have been a wonderful moment for him, knowing that he threw that away, needs no other statement. My thoughts are the same...it wasn't needed.

January 12, 200917 yr Let's be honest here. If Ledger hadn't died, he wins nothing. Nominated? Maybe. Wins? No. His performance in DK was very good, but I just don't see Oscar in it and this is coming from someone who really enjoys his films. JMO.

Rumors about his performance were milling well before his death and it was an absolutely outstanding performance no matter where he is now.

Part of me agrees with you, but then a big part of my doesn't. He took over that movie and was absolutely brilliant. And BoondockSaints is correct, there was a lot of talking going around about this performance before his incident.

They dont need to do anything about Mickey Rourke. The last I checked his abuses hasn't killed him yet (although he is a mess). Perhaps, his appearance speaks for itself.

I'm fine with the ribbons, although, with all of the problems in Hollywood one's jacket or dress would like like a full bird major in the military. If your goal is to save lives wouldn't you also want to save Mickey's life. You only mention dead people? An awards ceremony is not the place for politics (is Susan Sarandon) nor is it the place for PSAs. IMO it would have zero impact.
January 14, 200917 yr I watched the movie, and listened to how great Ledger was as the joker, but I still think this is the better joker. No way. Nicholson plays himself in that movie and any movie he is in.

Nicholson had some classic lines in the old movie. I think Ledger was good and played the joker to fit the newer darker side of batman that the new series portrays, but for some reason I lover the old joker. :thumb:
