Fox and the BCS

Charles Davis.

Which begs the next questions:

Who the hell is Charles Davis?

and

Why is someone who I (and most of the nation, I bet) have never heard of before announcing the national championship game?

It was horrid, I yelled at the TV on numerous occasions.

So I wasn't the only one doing this. Nothing makes me more mad than poor commentating. I generally can call the game better than half the guys I hear on the tv, maybe I'm missing my calling.

Come on now... I like Charles Davis! You pair him up with a qualitiy play by play announcer and I think Charles would be fine. Unfortnately, Thom and Charles do not come off as a credible team. Besides, you have Fox broadcasting a game with, which is very apparent to me, little technical support from the team in the trailers. :thumb:

Still doesn't tell me who he is and what he's done to earn a prestigious job such as doing color for the national championship game.

In a nutshell, the man is qualified to do college football broadcasts. Just needs a supporting actor or actress! All the same, I like the guy.

• Davis provided analysis for NBC, during the network’s coverage of the 2003 and 2004 Arena Football League. Doesn't that qualify him for the BCS game of the year? :D

• Basically, Davis is a SEC man. He was a four-year starter at defensive back at the University of Tennessee.

• In addition, he served as a sideline reporter for Jefferson Pilot’s SEC Football Game of the Week from 2000-2001, as well as hosting their SEC Football Today pre-game show and SEC-TV halftime show.

  • Also, former assistant AD at the University of the Pacific.

He also use to do Grey Goose 19th Hole (or what ever it was called) on the golf channel. Not that it makes him qualified but that was how I knew who he was.
