January 2, 200917 yr Author Of course, how else are you going to prove proof of insurance. I would still call, they may let you fax proof and then let you pay out on the fine. Never know unless you ask. You guys can't look that stuff up???

This is why I said generally speaking. There are some minimal records that are computerized but any police officer worth his salt would never rely on that information.

There is no way to prove you have insurance unless you have the card with dates in your vehicle. It takes 3 minutes to cut out the little card they send you and stick it in the registration envelope you get when you renew tags. Stick it in the glove box and forget about it. Hopefully you wont have to ever pull it out.

Do they place yours in a plastic cover and bubble wrap it? :scared: :lol: The problem I see is, what if you get someone who's somewhat good at photoshop or any type of word document program that can simply keep making copies of new insurance cards, just changing the dates? That's where I find the problem lying.
January 4, 200917 yr If it is faxed from the insurance co to the court house it will be ok if they let you do this. 17 miles over is a lot. They get lots of traffic after those concerts up that way.

I flunked Arts and crafts in grade school. :lol: I get your point about fraud but they simply want you to provide them something so it just seems easier to have it in your possession. They generally will let you show it in court or at the clerk's office to eliminate that ticket.

January 4, 200917 yr The last time I got pulled over...and that was 6 years ago. I had just grabbed my DL b/c I was running to the store. I really only got pulled over b/c I had a tail light out, but he asked me for my proof of insurance. I didn't have it. (I know keep in in the glove box) He just gave me a warning, told me I had like 15 days to get my light fixed and to call my insurance company and have them fax the proof to the clerks office. I think that way if I didn't have it, I couldn't forge it, and it was coming straight from the insurance company.
