With these numbers, Rowan County, Greenup County, Boyd County, and East Carter are 4A, Ashland is 5A, Lewis County, Russell, Fleming, and Morgan are 3A, Bath County is 2A, Raceland and Fairview are 1A. Rose Hill, Menifee County and Elliott would be 1A.

Rowan County 971

Ashland 962

Boyd County 948

Greenup County 936

East Carter 739

Fleming County 739

Lewis County 698

West Carter 686

Morgan County 674

Russell 664

Bath County 591

Menifee County 334

Elliott County 332

Raceland 312

Fairview 285

Rose Hill 78

Ram--None of those 3A Football 16th region schools are in the All A Basketball equation and the lowest number is Russell with 664. Bath County at 2A is in the equation at 591. Tells me the All A Basketball enrollment number must not exceed somewhere between 600-650?? Is the logic correct??

The football classes are broken up by "Male enrollment" so I am not sure about "Total enrollment. Some examples, all male enrollment:

Raceland 1A - Average 4 year enrollment-152

Lexington Christian 1A- Average 4 year enrollment-225

Newport Central Catholic 2A - Average 4 year enrollment-265

Prestonsburg 2A - Average 4 year enrollment-327

East Carter 3A(last year, 4A next year) - Average 4 year enrollment-361

Russell 3A - Average 4 year enrollment-361

Lawrence County 4A - Average 4 year enrollment-438

I just got off the phone with our 8th region All "A" rep. He explained that the committee went to a new method this past year. It used to be that the school enrollment was looked at for grades 10-12 and there was a cap number. However, they experienced some difficulties with reporting of the numbers. Starting this year, the numbers come from state reported official enrollments in October of the previous year. The 125 smallest schools are eligible, but not all choose to participate, that's why there are only 109 (I didn't count, taking your word for it) teams listed.

I know that's a little off track from the original topic, but it's just in case some want to know the numbers.

Thanks for the explanation TB&G.

I'm as guilty as anyone else, but if we want to discuss the All A any further, lets start a separate thread to discuss that.

Well I would take Boyd out and put Fleming in there somewhere.

I think Menifee could be higher. They seem capable of knocking some teams off.

Fleming is #12, just skipped them, sorry.

Menifee appears to be a little low based on recent scores.

Russell beat Boyd. Lewis is way too low. Menifee has beaten Bath and Rowan.

Computer ratings are usually quite flawed until late in the season. This year it may be more than usual. How many of us could actually give a confident gauge of the 16th at this point? With several teams able to argue for number 2, let alone 2-16.

Russell beat Boyd, but Boyd finished 2nd in a tourney and Russell finished last in Bracken's tourney. A lot of factors are used in these rankings.

Im not really trying to knock them down. Im just pointing out the fact that they get much more accurate late in the year.

I agree, especially after teams play each other, in region.
