I guess any win is a good win, but is anyone else surprised by this? According to the BGP preview, Manual is the 3rd-ranked team in the 7th Region, while Western is the 16th-ranked team in the 6th. Is the 6th really that loaded as compared to the 7th, or was this just "one of those games"?

Manual was short 3 players tonight Jacob Jennkins, Sean Samsel and Phillip Bond. Jenkins and Samsel are Manuals top two players and Bond has been giving them quality minutes off the bench. Last nights game was a real struggle but they found a way to win despite getting killed on the boards. They must of got out rebounded close to 3 to 1. I don't know how long these players will be out but the other players better step their games up or it could be a long night Friday at Trinity.

 

I think most teams would struggle if missing their top two players.

 

Give Western credit they played extremely hard and nearly pulled off the upset.

Jenkins wasn't in the box score. He wasn't in the game against Atherton either. What is going on???

Why were they out? Sick , hurt, other?

It does explain the score. Jenkins makes a huge difference in leadership, points and assists. He will need to get back if Manual has a chance to win against the schedule coming up. You don't lose one of the state's top 2 players and not have a drop off.

The good news is Manual was not in the tough part of the schedule and had wins against Atherton and Western. The bad news is, Trinity up next and after Manual defeated them in the DS Shootout by 36 with Jenkins' 38 points I would think they are feeling good about Friday night.

Manual was outrebounded 40 to 24. Western was not tall as they had no one over 6-3 on their starting unit.

Samsel and Jenkins were out due to injury. Bond was sick.
