Ohio state final website

Featured Replies

I watched Elder lose to St Ignatius last night in the Division 1 final on a site listed below. The full screen video was very good. Check it out.

It is a site sponsored by the Ohio High school athletic association and you can watch the entire game from any of the 6 divisions plus some selected playoff games ( like the double OT game with Elder and Colerain) When will the KHSAA step up and put the video on the websites instead of us searching the TV listings for the replay? Your thoughts? Would the move to Bowling Green make this type of site essential for those that can't/won't/ or choose not to travel to Bowling Green?

I am sure if the KHSAA could find a way to make a buck from it, they would do it in a heart beat! At least to me, it seems the KHSAA is a "Show me the money" group!

The fact that "Football State" Ohio has its HS champions named a full 2 weeks earlier than Kentucky is something the KHSAA needs to take notice of also.

It seems Ohio must be doing a number of things right.

Solutions:

1. Limit the number of teams in the playoffs

2. Eliminate the bye week

I watched the 4A title game for MO on the web. Their solution was you had to buy a "ticket" that was like 5.00. You got to watch the game live and could watch it as much as you wanted for a 24hr period. They had a ton of other sports also such as basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, and so on.

There are some programs that allow schools to upload their game tape and people and pay to watch the games. I think they even have it where you could download and burn.

The fact that Ohio has the same number of classes as Kentucky yet several times as many football playing schools should also tell us something.

Their point system, though, is a concept we could probably do without.

Not a huge fan of neutral site playoff games in the first two rounds, although that's probably not a bad idea in regional finals and semifinals when one seeds are playing one seeds.

I think there is a lot more to it than you say here if you talk to folks from Ohio. Ohio's rules allow the OHSAA to take all the money from every round of postseason play except for the first round, according to my Ohio school business friends. What this means is they don't have to be so protective of the money from a single round like KHSAA does. KHSAA only has the revenue from football, for example, from six games, all played at a neutral site. Compare that to Ohio where they would have revenue coming in for weeks that could pay for development, production and everything else necessary to put live broadcasts on the internet. It isn't something from what I have been told, that is simply cheap and easy to do. I applaud the OHSAA and perhaps with more funding from other rounds, the KHSAA could follow suit. But my guess is that the schools in Kentucky (even though they certainly aren't budgeted for anything past the first round) are probably not going to consider any kind of change, so we will be left to watch the reduced screen video through normal video streaming.

:dancingpa Couldn't agree more

:thumb: Hmmm, all the nay-sayers would disagree and like the KY system that allows 0-10, 1-9 teams just because it gives those teams and their coaches extra practice and game experience. Well, for 10 weeks, the practice and games plans didn't work, thus why should those teams get another opportunity to plug in a plan that's not going to work for another week?
