Scrimmage: Holmes v Tates Creek

Featured Replies

Don't really have any details at this point since I wasn't there but was informed Holmes lost the first half by a close margin but won the second half and overall scrimmage.

Ricardo Johnson didn't play because he rolled his ankle in practice. He's ok and will play in next week's scrimmage against Male but was kept out today for safety precautions.

Holmes starters for both halves were Riley, Housely, D. Johnson, J. Johnson, and Pittman.

If anyone was there and has details, it'd be greatly appreciated. If not, I'll have more on Monday.

I got to watch the 1st quarter and it was pretty even. I noticed Ricardo was not dressed. I would have liked to been able to stay for the whole scrimmage.:irked:

From what I've heard from a pretty reliable source, Holmes didn't look like they were playing that hard in the first half but picked up the intensity in the second half and it showed as they started running away with the game.

Coach must have got his point across at half time.....:D

Coach actually didn't seem too upset. I think that's one good thing about this squad this year. They know if they haven't really played hard and need to pick it up. Coach doesn't have to tell them like in years past.

Two starters for Tates Creek also did not play in Ryan Fucci and Jordan Hagan.

Anyone have the breakdown by Q?

My source who was at the game paints a different picture.

Granted Holmes was without Rico but I heard TC rolled in the first half anbd it wasn't close. In the second, TC played mostly subs for the 3rd quarter, got down about 10, and then came back with the starters in the 4th and almost caught up.

Sounds like Holmes has some work to do and congrats to TC who played hard!

Your source also probably wasn't a coach at the game of one of the teams. :thumb:

TC won by around 5 in the first half.

Second half, Holmes picked up the intensity and got a big lead then started subbing and that is when TC started to catch up.

I personally wouldn't put too much stock in to pre season games though. They meet again in the Defenders of the Station tourney at Bryan Station in a little over a month.

I didnt make it down as I was doing some house duties and getting geared up for a major Booster Bash last night at PBS. LOL

You'll have another chance this coming Sat, the 29th. Highlands plays Fairdale at 11:30, then there's a 1:30 game, Holmes plays Male at 3:30, and then Covcath plays Ballard at 5:30.

I'm going to get down there around noon so I can catch some of the Highlands game and then stay to watch both Holmes and Covcath.

I was told that Holmes lost and had a boatload of turnovers.

My original source obviously didn't give me a correct analysis of the scrimmage. After speaking with someone else, this is correct. Apparently they played flat the WHOLE game and had lots of turnovers and lacked intensity. TC ended up winning by 8-10 points. It was definetly a humbling experience for the Bulldogs and they have a lot that they need to work on at this point.

Granted they played without Ricardo, they still need to develop the toughness that took last year's squad so far.
