I am not sure if there is already a thread but who are some of the teams to watch for this season?

CCHS was very tough during the 2 years of Middle School ball. I expect them to be strong, but they start the season with two starters out (Griffin and Kennedy). Skinner may be the best of the lot, but he is likely to play JV. If they are missing those three, it will make them no better than average.

I heard a very very good athlete and leader didnt make the Highlands Frosh Team. WOW !!!

 

They should be pretty decent with Jake and Nick True as well as Reekers, Towles, and New at the PG spot. Also throw in the Merrill boys and their aggressiveness down low.

I agree. Highlands should be formidable this year led by the True brothers. New is VERY quick at the PG position. They will have a deep squad.

BTW, a player to watch is I believe David Gates (last name ?) of Holmes. He is the cousin of current UC Bearcat Yancy Gates. He has a lot of size at 6'7 (bigger than Pittman and Arnold both) and has more meat on him than those two which will make him tough to defend and score on around the rim.

There you go again, always being the bearer of bad news for opposing teams of Holmes. LOL Wow, 6'7 and beefy like his cousin Yancy. When will it end? :confused:

Just a question, why with his size is he not playing then at least at the JV level? I seem to remember Holmes freshmen struggling last year, so I would have thought that this kid should be able to at least play JV.

I agree, if they are moving MClendon up to JV they certainly should move up a 6'7 manchild like Gates.

While he is 6'7, you also have to remember a kid that size, at that age is still developing. He will play and dress JV but overall needs to stay at the freshman level for a few games to develop a little more. He is VERY good defensively but offensively has some work to with his post moves, foot work, etc.

Gates looked good over the summer, a lot better offensively than you might think

I dont remember any kids being over 6 foot for Two Rivers. Heck I cant remember what I did 2 days ago though.

Park Hills will field a strong frosh team. Good mix of size and guard play including a shooter or two. Deep.

He may have played up at the frosh level then. I'll have to talk to Dave and find out for sure.
