The Great Game
IMO 1B Hempel 2B Carney SS Freidel 3B Etscheid Hempel, Etschid and O'Hara all should alternate at the corners. Hempel will be a very solid pitcher. You have Clarkson, Frosh, who probably has the best glove of all of these players waiting the in the wings. Should be fun. Interesting, I didnt know Hempel was a first baseman.

cooperstown
No, he's not a middle infielder. Played 3B last year for JV, but doubtful he'd see much time at all there this coming season for varsity (Etscheid/O'Hara/Renda), so he moved to 1B over the summer. Probably good spot for him since he's a tall target, but he'll have competition there also.

Bluesport
Where's Diamond Dandy these days? My question exactly. Usually through his objective eyes, Ryle could be the World Series Champion on any given year. A bloop single here or there prevent them from going undefeated though. cooperstown
Ryle will miss both Nick and Gus Murray this coming season, as both sustained shoulder (throwing shoulder) injuries during football and will require surgery and long rehabs. If Steve Helmer elects not to play this year, it will be a big loss in the pitching, defense, and hitting departments. They will need a couple of the JV OF'ers from last season (Dice-K, Donovan, Lonkard, Griggs, etc..) to really step up.

YeSsIr
Senior Helmer has been an oustanding P and IF for years in select ball and now at Ryle, that would be a killer loss

Last I heard, he's pretty committed to not playing. Said he wasn't going to play basketball and stuck to that claim also.
