November 4, 200817 yr I would just like for an Obama supporter to actually defend and articulate his positions and how they will stimulate the economy and be good for the country. I have never used the term 'hoodwinked' as some have. Voting for change is fine, ... but what exactly is the change supporters are voting for, ... besides not voting for Bush? Here are a few examples: - Raising capital gains taxes (How will that increase investment?) - Reinstating the inheritance tax (Let's force more family owned farms and businesses to have to sell, what a marvelous idea! It is back to double taxation as the owner already was taxed on the income to build that farm/business.) - Increasing taxes on businesses (That will help create more domestic jobs?) - Increasing coal fired electric power generation taxes to the point that new plants would be 'taxed into bankruptcy and the cost of electricity would skyrocket', (How will that help the middle class and working poor and the increased cost to government when they set up more programs to pay the bills of persons who already have a hard time paying their power bill?) - Increasing minimum wage by 45% within 24 months (How will this increase jobs and keep inflation down?) - $900 billion in new government spending? - Raising taxes on anyone in our current economic state? If anyone can explain how these positions of Senator Obama's will help the economy, please speak up. Maybe as a conservative I am just not smart enough to understand. You left out a biggie that will potentially have as big an impact on the economy as anything else in your list, the "Card Check" bill. Taking the right of a secret ballot away from those targeted by a union organizing effort and essentially open those workers up to peer pressure and more serious forms of intimidation will give a big boost to union organizers. If Card Check becomes law, I expect many Wal-Marts and other retail chains will begin closing their doors soon.

Does anyone wonder why the big 3 are closing plants left and right while foreign brands are setting up shop all over the south?
