I read in the Herald Leader that Travis Purvis tore his ACL. Just wanted to offer my sympathies. I hope he has a speedy and complication-free recovery! Nice kid!

Thank you for the kind words. Yes Travis is a great kid and was looking forward to basketball season this year. He had a great summer in AAU. Morehead State has already offered a scholarship.

Here is a article from the Winchester paper.

Prep Basketball: GRC center out for season

By Keith Taylor/Sun Sports Editor

The season hasn’t begun, but the George Rogers Clark boys basketball team has already lost one of its top returning players for the season.

Sophomore center Travis Purvis, 6-foot-7, 205 pounds, tore his ACL during a practice session Tuesday and will miss the rest of the season.

What a shame. He has worked so hard this summer and in practice this fall and was doing so good. When you have a 6'7 " , 210 lb kid that can play and he is taken away for the year, it has to really hurt the team. Great kid from a good family. My prayers go out to them.

Praying for a speedy recovery for this young man.

I heard about Purvis a few days ago when it actually happened but chose not to post until someone else did. Tough break for the kid and prayers go out to him for a speedy recovery.

I think it might be a blessing in disguise though. With Purvis out, it will allow some of the other young players to get some clock as well which could help them a year or two down the road with experiencs.

GRC will be just fine though. They have a great coach, a TON of talent, and a group of kids who work very hard. I still expect big things out of them.

Sunrise Hope to see him back on the court next year stronger than ever.

Good kid and I am sure the cards will miss him this year.
