BIG WIN!

Playing calling was the best I have seen this season. Good job of mixing the play action. I truly think this win will give the Cards so mojo for the rest of the season.

They looked very sharp and have something to build on if they can, next week will be a cake walk but at Pitt will make or break the Cards.

UofL's rush defense has been unreal. They gave up 8 yards to USF, who was leading the Big East in rushing.

The Cards have the fifth ranked rush defense in the country. Who in their wildest imagination would've believed that back in the summer. The Ron English hire has been a great one so far.

^ I like it so far. BUT until I see what they do against Shady and also against the 'Eers, I won't get overly excited.....one at a time....revenge against the 'Cuse.

Last year they game planned rollouts and option runs for Grothe. This year the OC is intent on making a pocket passer out of him, yet in the Syracuse game, he let Matt be Matt and he passed better and ran longer. I get so frustrated I can't see straight at times.

I never understood trying to turn a player into something he's not. Never.

It also baffles me when NFL teams draft these dual-threat QB's (like Vick, McNabb, Young, etc.) and immediately confine them to the pocket. If you wanted a "pocket passer" you should have drafted one. The reason these guys were so good is because of their running/scrambling/improvising ability...

It also seems like when that becomes the agenda, that the QB becomes so self-conscious of staying in the pocket that they refuse to run or scramble and it compounds the problem. I think you have to let them run, while continuing to coach them up and hope to gradually reach that point. You can't turn a guy into a pocket passer overnight.
