Class 3A Playoffs, info needed & tie breakers.

Featured Replies

Working on the class 3A playoffs and I need to know the winners of the following games from tonight.

Hart vs Adair (winner gets 4 seed)

Somerset vs Casey

Also, it looks like there will be a 3 way tie in a couple of districts.

Wayne, Taylor and Somerset will be tied for 1st place in D5, assuming Somerset beat Casey Co tonight.

Muhlenberg South, McLean Co and Paducah Tilghman will be tied for 2nd place in D1.

If anyone knows how these tie breakers will play out, please post it.

I am 99% sure that it will come down to non-common opponent wins and those non-common opponents wins because head-to-head is out in a three way tie. Some seeds may not be decided until the end of week 10 if those non-common opponent wins will need to be taken into consideration.

In District 1:

1 seed Union

2 seed McLean

3 seed Muhlenberg South

4 seed Paducah Tilghman/Webster

There is alot of "talk" about PT having to forfeit their win against Webster. If so, PT will have 1 win vs. McLean, and Webster would have 1 win vs. PT. Webster would win the Head-to-Head for the 4 seed....

If for some reason, PT keeps their win, it is a three-way tie for 2nd with McLean, M. South, and PT at 2-2. Points tiebreaker (currently): Not counting Webster which they all would have beaten....

McLean--8 pts.

M. South--2 pts. (Would have to beat Butler/Grayson to beat McLean out)

PT--0 pts. (If they beat Heath, they have two wins) 2 points

It looks like Wayne has the advantage in District 5, unless Somerset can upset Corbin. If Wayne gets first in the points tie-breaker, would Taylor then get second due to its win over Somerset in a head-to-head situation?

Once you start a tiebreaker with points, it ends in points (unless the last two teams have the same, then it is head-to-head).

I looked it up and that's correct. I don't think it worked that way a few years ago, even though I always thought it should.

It appears Somerset will have to defeat Corbin or Harlan County to move out of third. Somerset would have to beat both if Taylor beats Hart and Caverna.

According to a thread on here, Adair won, 25-7.

District 3 Breakdown:

1. Central

3. Shawnee

4. Moore

District 4:

1. North Oldham

2. Spencer County

3. Western Hills

4. Henry County

EDIT: Had the districts flipped.

It's much more than "talk" that Tilghman will have to forfeit to Webster ... Tilghman's principal has said publicly that he expects the game to be forfeited. It's strange, though, that there has been no official announcement.

westsider,

Totally agree. That's why I used the word talk. It seems to me that with it happening so early on, the KHSAA would have ruled on it by now.
