October 22, 200817 yr And I'll be looking for a job. I will have my Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and would like a job in Law Enforcement. I do not want to work around my hometown (Rockcastle) because they pay police officers like they pay McDonald's employees. Any advice?

Check out the job opportunities with the Federal Prison system or as a Postal Inspector with the USPS. I would also suggest a job as a Conservation Officer (game warden) if you enjoy the outdoors.

October 22, 200817 yr What exactly does a Postal Inspector do? They are responsible for handling mail fraud and other crimes that involve the use of US Mail services. In other words, they police the Postal Service grounds and it's employees. Their duties also include undercover and investigative type work. The Ky. Postal Inspector's have a main office in Lexington & Louisville and travel is involved within their own district. Their district may include many different cities and states. Each of the large post offices has an office that the PI may use when investigating a case. This office is off limits to anyone other than the assigned inspector. It is my understanding that this is one of the better jobs within the USPS.
October 22, 200817 yr Have you started looking for a job yet? I graduate in the Spring, and have been looking for over a month now....I'd try to get a job in the prison system though. I hear they pay decently.

I looked it up and if I'm understanding it correctly, you have to have two years of work experience before getting a Postal Inspector job.

October 22, 200817 yr Are you limiting your search to the immediate area? If not, there is a federal prison in Lucasville, Ohio just up the road from Portsmouth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Ohio_Correctional_Facility Congrats on your upcoming graduation.
