I still don't think this will "get ugly". SC is much more rounded as opposed to last year, and their defense is much improved. Albeit they gave up a lot of points last week, but that was against a Bell team that may win the 4a championship. Hager will have the Cards ready for Belfry come Friday night and if Belfry isn't ready they may be brought down a peg. Either way it's going to be a great game at the ROCK!

If Belfry plays their best game possible, and SC plays their best game possible, Belfry would win by 3-4 TD's due to having more talent and depth.

 

What has hindered Belfry and cost them losses to SC in the past was overlooking SC and costly errors made with turnovers, penalties, and special teams.

 

Belfry's kickoff coverage has been simply attrocious this year. If you recall two years ago when SC defeted Belfry it was all spurred by the fantastic individual performance of Adam Dials, namely his kick returns. Belfry blew a 3 TD lead in the 2nd half and it all came down to letting up and watching SC grow with momentum.

 

The Pirates have also been plagued with a massive ammount of false start penalties this season. You can get by with a 5 yard penalty against Pike Central or Magoffin when you can run for 10 yards plus pretty much anytime you want to, but against good teams where drives are critical, those could be fatal errors.

 

The bottom line in this game is the following:

- Belfry is deeper

- Belfry appears to be tougher on the OL

- Belfry has a 3 year starter at QB, SC has a very talented Sophomore playing in the rain against an excellent defensive unit.

- With homefield advantage through the playoffs on the line, Belfry should be focused.

 

I'll take Belfry by 3-4 TD's in a game that is much closer than the final score. BUT, if Belfry commits penalties and give up big yards in the kicking game SC could be in position to pull the upset.

With the thumping handed to SC this past week might have refocused abit. This one could be close but if SC dont get out of the 5-3 defense they played against Bell could be a long night.

Will anyone be able to keep a pretty consistent update of this game tomorrow night? I will be driving to Gainesville for the UK game and will be reliant on updates for the score.

Look it is simple the Cards are at home at the rock and they can be very tough at the rock but i still think Belfry win it close 21-19.

Belfry is one of the elite football teams in the mountains. They have the type of program that every other team hopes of having some day. That being said I have a gut feeling that this season Sheldon Clark might just have Belfry's number. I don't know what it is about the Cardinals, but they have somthing that is hard to put into words. They took one on the chin at Log Mountain, but I still think that the Cardinals will win this tough, physcial football game. Sheldon Clark in a good one.
