I love my wife dearly. She is a saint for putting up with me. However, she has yet to clean the and prepare the game that I bring home as she should. I shouldn't have to pluck the turkey or skin the deer. I have a difficult time convincing her that this would be, you know, more "traditional"

I used to over look the "did you catch one" when referring to deer and turkey. However, my 9y.o. has enlightened her to the proper verbage, something that I was smart enough not to get into, yet he can get away with that.:thumb:

I saw my first dead spike of the year on the highway. (in Ohio) I always look at this as a four week sign. Despite the weather the rut will go on. I get excited thinking about that ole swollen neck.

I always look forward to hunting with the old "smoke pole". They sure have come a long way since my early days of hunting with round ball, wet patch and struggling to get the load to seat proper. Also the work it took to clean the gun after the days hunt.

I remember several mornings dealing with the frustration when Mr Horn arrived, only to hear the pop of the cap and watching him run off and then realizing I had a misfire. Thank goodness for Knight and TC.

I would like to wish every one good hunting this weekend!

I just got out two of the muzzle loaders this morning to get them ready. One, the flintlock for my young'un (thats the one he wants to hunt with) and the percussion for me. We saw a 6 point last weekend during the youth season, but it didn't give the young'un a shot at it. Maybe he'll see it again and get a shot at it this weekend.

I saw a pretty nice 8 point this morning he walked within 10 yards of my tree stand, probably high 130 or low 140 class, just not what I'm looking for this early in the year. Anyone have any luck today?

It was a nice day, a little windy. I only seen them ol slick heads today but we will be back after them in the mornin.

Saw nada this morning, if you don't count 2 red squirrels who barked at me for 2 hours.:irked:

Saw several slickheads this evening, several by themselves:confused: and one 8pt wide as his ears. He's still on hoof and I hope makes it thru the season without someone cracking him. Next yr. he'll be a shooter.:thumb:
