Jacob Jenkins (DuPont Manuel High, Louisville): Jacob has impressed me this spring with his ability score in volumes. Jacob has some great offers out there and for whatever school he signs with he will help their offense immensely. If Jacob works on his defense and playmaking more his stock definitely has a chance to rise. With so much pressure to be the man at Manuel High School this year I hope he gets the chance to round out his game. If that happens Jacob may have a shot to make a hard run for Mr. Basketball.

I don't know enough about Kimbro to know how his absence will affect Manual's overall success this year, but I would count on Jacob having a big year. Manual is playing a tough schedule, but that should toughen them up for the "Road to Rupp". If they get there, then it will be on Jenkins back, and he would have to be seriously considered for Mr. BB.

Quickness and speed is what is keeping him from being a HIGH D-1 player. That being said he could get there. One thing he can do is fill it up and has good size.

A great spring and summer that included 3 top showings in allstars, aau, and camps that has led to more offers and greater acknowledement from the ranking experts. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

 

It's good for any KY high school player to have options to play college basketball at the highest level and earn a great education. Not to mention having the opportunity to play a senior year in every major event in Kentucky against the highest level of competition.

I've only seen the guy once, and I would agree with that assessment. He played well in the Jrs vs Srs game at Mason County prior to the KY-IN games. I thought that Phares was the most complete player on the floor for the juniors that night, Jenkins showed very well that night; much of his production was due to the fact that he hustled as well as anyone on the court. He will have to continue to outwork folks, as his pure physical tools are not where, as Griffith says, at a successful, big-time D1 guard's would generally be.

 

But then again, how many high school juniors-about-to-become seniors are?

I always hear about all the offers he has, but never see a list of schools who have offered. I know Western Kentucky and Murray State (two of the top mid-majors in KY) have not offered him. Who has actually offered him? Just quriuos.

He will keep working. After all, is there any other way to play other than playing hard and outworking your opponent? I would say leading a team in nearly every statistical category is pretty well-rounded. The focus is on training, the senior season and helping the team, and selecting the right college.

Who is offering? The reason I ask is that we had a young man in our neck of the woods a few years back who many believed was too slow and couldn't play defense well enough to play major college basketball; and he had a pretty decent career.
