Yes, they play Scott (5A). If I reacall Henry was very down two years ago. Their new schedule will have South Oldham, Anderson, Owensboro Cath. They are also in the NCKC which means they are obligated to play teams such as Owen, Trimble, Carroll..etc. All of which have been competitive games in the past. Those teams are just a little down right now, those will be competitive again.

 

Seriously though. Not many are competitive wiht Highlands and BG, in any class!

Wrong! Get your facts straight. Eminence was first contacted in April and asked what date they wanted to play. Fro didn't respond for several weeks and when he did he couldn't give a date until July due to needing to meet with the other 8 man teams. He says he wants fo focus on more 8man games outside his district. There were several weeks open on HC's schedule, non fit his agenda at the time due to not knowing who was going to play them in 8 man...and that is a fact! He said he could not committ to a date and would just play a scrimmage if possible. Try checking your facts before you get on here![/QUOTe]

Let me see if I understand this right.....is it true or not that Eminence (fairly recently) competed in 8-man football ??

You're right, and this game could be seen as everything to lose and nothing to gain for HC. However, EHS won 2 years ago. Jim, Rivalries are what they are, and bragging rights follow. Many small schools compete against larger schools in a rivalry game (way too many to name). You should know best about rivalries and what they mean. Furthermore, just because one chooses to play 8 man doesn't mean they can't compete against anyone. When was 8 man done away with 2001? At any rate the last time it was recognized in this state nobody playing Friday was eligible.

It may just be me - but I have an aversion to teams 'running up" the score on another group of young men -esp. when the outcome has long been decided. It was clear who had the better team - the more skilled atheletes - and the greater advantage. Sort of "kicking someone who is down."

 

Eventually something like that comes back around.

That makes alot of sense. ESp. when you consider some of the college scheduling where teams will take on the 'big boys" for that great payday which helps them tremendously. And as you correctly pointed out a natural rivalry. I may have misspoke initially - and did not fully consider the history between the two and just got caught up on the score between and 1A and 3A.
