Clyde Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Who wins on Thursday in Erlanger? If we dare use comparison scores against top teams SHDHS would seem to have the advantage based on the Mercy scores.

Tough to compare scores anytime but St Henry played them early, ND played them twice the 2nd time going 3 games with them. 1st match up I saw and ND did not play well. St Henry will be tough at home. But ND is playing very well right now. Coming off winning the Fall Classic, I'd say ND in a close battle
VBMOM Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I would agree with the comments. While NDA did win over St Henry at the Fall Classic in 2, St. Henry will certainly have the incentive, home court and opportunity to reclaim bragging rights of NKY. Should be a VERY good game between the NKY power houses. Plus- come show your support for Breast Cancer - this game is the Volley For A Purpose for both teams.:dancingpa
carguy Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 St Henry gets revenge in a great match. But, then NDA will get them back at the Regionals and advance to the State Tourney.
vballdad Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 ND should win this. Reasonably close games but ND the much better team.
EQUUS GREVYI Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 ND should win this. Reasonably close games but ND the much better team. I would agree with this. Notre Dame has a much stronger offensive team, however, if they make mistakes St. Henry could make this close. Should be a good night for a good cause! I hope the crowd is very large and supportive of both teams and the cause.
Beechwoodfan Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I know girls on both teams, so I will be happy either way. That being said, I think NDA will pull this one off. It will be a great night for volleyball!
Dlbdonn Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Its hard for me to root for either team for obvious reasons . But I think that St Henry will get a measure of revenge at home and defeat NDA . I'll root for the Crusaders in this one but only because I have a relative on the team .
colonelblue Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 NDA is the much better team. I say if SHDHS wins, its an upset.
3ptshooter Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 The CRU wins at HOME w/a tremendous crowd support.
Clyde Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 Will this be close to a sellout? I've heard SHDHS will have a big student body.
VBMOM Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 What we have been told is that the doors will open at 4:15 as the expectations are quite high that this will be a sell out. Freshman play at 5pm. Between student bodies as well as parents of the respective teams this is normally a highly attended game to begin with but with the Volley For the Cure added it should be a sell out.
Beechwoodfan Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I have watched a lot of volleyball in my time and I can tell you that ANYTHING can happen! Great teams play like olympians one day and the next day you wonder what happend to those olympians! A lot goes into a team's performance. Two seasoned, talented teams like this will be awesome to watch. Best of luck to both!
Clyde Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Outstanding atmosphere. Great student sections on both sides. I would agree with a comment made by Coach Kaiser that the atmosphere may have caused her plays to be TOO hyped. I noticed during the warmups that a girl would start jumping around going nuts after she spiked a ball. Warmups, mind you. You simply can't burn that much energy and sustain it throughout the rest of the evening. I'd also caution my girls to not go nuts on every point they score. Excitement is great but it has to be used wisely as it does deplete energy. Impressive athletes on both sides. Burns and Fortner are strong players.
