super Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Good game, but Boyle stop themselfs in this one, should have score more, but it's still a W. The Rebels did play the good D once again.
titletownclown Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Boyle gets the W but it was a bit ugly to watch. The Boyle D played solid as expected especially the run D. However, the offense never got on track tonight. I think the guys were just emotionally flat after last week's big rivalry game with Danville. Very sloppy offensively; a couple interceptions, several instances of miscommunication between the qb and receiver, a few fumbles, silly motion penalties, a few times where ball was snapped on the wrong count and qb wasn't ready. Overall unBoylelike offensive showing. However, it wouldn't be fair to not give Lafayette some of the credit because their D was pretty solid also.

IMO this was the best team Boyle has faced this year. It wasn't pretty but we won the game. 4-0 is alot better than last years record after 4 games.
PurplePride92 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 How come the offense doesn't try to get Aumiller the ball more? I don't like the spots they put him in with the ball. It seems that he would get a little more down field instead of running screen passes to him. I agree that our offense was awful tonight and that this game sandwiched between Danville and Catholic was a recipe for disaster but we did pull it out. Our offense will need to be much better next week if we expect to pull out a win. Thank goodness for our defense. I think most teams will be hard pressed to score on us. Does anyone know why Rees McShara wasn't in for the series when we went up 14 to 0? And was Lamar cramping up again? He didn't look full speed during the 3rd quarter.
Rebel88 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Yeah, it wasn't pretty but we'll definitely take it. Hope we came out with no injuries. There were lots of mental errors/penalties that cost the Rebels on several drives. On the drive that Lafayette did score, Boyle had them 4th and goal at the 5, then we had a personal foul called that gave them 1st and goal at the 2 yard line. It then took Lafayette 4 downs to get the score. Solid performance by the defense. Good job Rebels.

I heard someone say his back was bothering him. Didn't hear anything about Lamar.
PurplePride92 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Yeah, I know it was the series after he "fumbled". He never took his helmet off and he stayed by the coaches, but he didn't play the series. I was hoping it wasn't anything too serious and I guess it wasn't since he came back in. I hope it doesn't linger. Lamar never came off the field, but watching him move tonight compared to the previous games, you could see that something was bothering him. He had no burst. Thanks for the McShara info.
