September 19, 200818 yr The bipartisan legislative investigation into whether Sarah "hold me accountable" Palin abused her office is stalling because Palin's administration is now fighting it tooth and nail. Palin's appointed Attorney General, Talis Colberg, Tuesday announced that Alaska state employees would refuse to honor subpoenas in the case. Today, we learned that Todd Palin (not a state employee) will also refuse to honor the subpoena for his testimony. Sarah Palin on July 24, 2008: I’m happy to comply, to cooperate. I have absolutely nothing to hide. No problem with an independent investigation. McCain Campaign Press Release on August 30, 2008: Governor Palin is an open book on this – she did nothing wrong and has nothing to hide. As a reformer and a leader on ethics reform, she has been happy to cooperate fully in the inquiry of this matter. For someone claiming she has nothing to hide, Sarah Palin sure is acting like she has something to hide. Putting her AG up to telling state employees to ignore legislative subpoenas is a page directly out of the George W. Bush playbook. Come to think of it, Palin does seem an awful lot like Dubya with two X chromosomes.
September 19, 200818 yr You know how I know the libs/dems are in trouble? There are more threads about Palin in P&R than McCain. Surely you fellows can do better than this...:lol::lol::lol: Eh, I doubt it.
September 19, 200818 yr Author It's not an independent investigation. It was supported by a vote of 10 Republicans and 4 Democrats.

If McCain had picked someone who was qualified and who wasn't desperately fighting an ethics investigation after just 1 1/2 years in office, maybe people would be more interested in what he has to say. Frankly, his pick of Palin speaks more about McCain than it does about Palin!

It's ashamed that as you look through the myriad of threads in p&r, so few are actually centered on the important issues facing the country. Most of them are just cheap "gotcha" threads (both left and right). Too bad indeed.
September 19, 200818 yr  One thread on this bogus "independent" investigation was not enough? I guess the army of muckrakers Obama sent to Alaska are not coming up with much.
September 19, 200818 yr Author  One thread on this bogus "independent" investigation was not enough? I guess the army of muckrakers Obama sent to Alaska are not coming up with much. With a unanimous vote of 10 Republicans and 4 Democrats supporting the ethics investigation, your characterization of it being "bogus" seems a little at odds with the facts. After the bravado she originally showed ("hold me accountable"), Sarah is now fighting this investigation like a Barracuda. What I can't figure is, why would she be so afraid of the testimony of state employees and her husband, Todd Palin that she won't let them testify? If she has nothing to hide, and it doesn't seem likely that a witness would risk purjury to damage her reputation, why is Palin objecting to letting people tell the truth under oath? This sounds an awful lot like the way the Bush White House is run.

The "bogus" reference applies to the Obama supporter who has admitted to exercising control over the investigation. When an independent investigator is hired they are supposed to be, well...independent. This may have begun as an independent investigation, considering that 75 percent of Alaskan Democrats approve of Palin's job performance, but Obama's campaign has brought Chicago-style politics to Juneau.

So, I guess we should wait until Caribou Barbie is sitting in the VP residence before we find out if she abused her power as Governor. Cool.
September 19, 200818 yr So, I guess we should wait until Caribou Barbie is sitting in the VP residence before we find out if she abused her power as Governor. Cool. What a petty issue to be obsessing over when Obama has been caught undermining Bush's delicate negotiations with the Iraqi government while on Iraqi soil. It's great to see Democrats have their priorities straight.

September 19, 200818 yr Yeah, Democrats nationwide should be worried about what is in the BGP P&R forum. No, they're just worried that Palin has stolen their thunder (if you can call it thunder), especially since they have nothing to counter with except an empty suit and a bad hair transplant.
