September 17, 200817 yr They sure would have had a great chance at it. Agreed, but there were too many good teams over the past 6-7 years. USC has been a top team all of those years, but IMO I doubt them winning that many NC's. They would be in the hunt that is for sure, but like I said there were a lot of really good teams in those years.
September 17, 200817 yr Someone said something about USC winning the "Big" games making them stonger in a playoff system and I agree. The usually do perform well on the biggest stages. My question is, does there performance in big games translate from not having to prepare as hard for the "small" games? My point is that you better be ready to play every week in the SEC or you will get your feelings hurt. Its no fun to go to Vandy, Miss, Miss St, or any of the others at any time. Ask LSU about playing in Lexington or Tenn about playing Vandy. In oreder to be successful in the SEC, you have to prepare extremely well every week and it is very difficult being at an emotional and physical peak week in and week out! I always wonder what USC would do in the SEC, even as good as they are!!
September 17, 200817 yr On another thought and opinion on the thread title......."if there was a playoff system"? = "If a frog had wings....". I believe that we will see a plus one system put in place soon but I do not believe that will be ever anything else be as far as a playoff.
