September 11, 200818 yr The title doesn't say "all", that's just an assumption that you and HB made and you were both wrong. Just because someone says the Democrats or the Republicans doesn't mean ALL, I think you both know that. The title says "Democrats". It doesn't say some or a few...it says democrats. You made a general statement about Democrats...now you are trying to say you didn't.

You know if someone started a thread that said "Gun Owners are...(insert whatever negative term you want here)" that you would take offense and feel that it was aimed in part at you.
September 11, 200818 yr So your basing your opinion of all Democrats on this one person? Whoever posted this clip cut out part of Cohen's introduction, "I believe I speak on behalf of all democrats everywhere when I submit to you Mr. Speaker..." I'm sure the full clip is out there somewhere. I could point out something Mr. Cohen doesn't share with John Edwards, but that would just be mean, and I'm really trying to earn Rockmom's favor.

It doesn't make the title of this thread true either.

September 12, 200818 yr The title doesn't say "all", that's just an assumption that you and HB made and you were both wrong. Just because someone says the Democrats or the Republicans doesn't mean ALL, I think you both know that. Pluralizing the word "democrat" without using a qualifier to limit the implication in the written form of the English language indicates a collective assumption.

September 12, 200818 yr Author The title says "Democrats". It doesn't say some or a few...it says democrats. You made a general statement about Democrats...now you are trying to say you didn't. The Republicans are slinging mud at Obama pretty bad.So, ALL Republicans? :sssh: See how easy it is to twist things. :walk:

September 12, 200818 yr Author I find it typical of the posters in this thread that want to ignore what Cohen said and concentrate on the wording of the title instead. Can't defend what was said so change the subject.

This guy is not somebody you plucked off the street - he is an elected Democratic member of the US House of Representatives who speaks for tens of thousands of Democrats in his district. You could also have quoted Donna Brazile, the prominent Democratic strategist who ran Al Gore's campaign: "Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor. And perhaps they should understand the role of a community organizer is to help people in distress." There, that makes two Democrats mouthing the same failed talking points. That is Demcrats plural - not counting Cohen's Democratic constituents.
