Western Kentucky Top 10 (Small Schools)

Featured Replies

Hopkinsville didn't win the state title ... they lost in the state championship game.

The runner-up finish was voided after it was discovered that Artose Pinner was too old to be eligible under KHSAA rules.

Ok, thanks.

Is Green County in or out? That would change my vote considerably ...

I wouldn;t think so. I'm not sure Metcalfe is WKY either.

It sure didn't feel like western Kentucky on my one visit, considering it took me three-plus hours to get there ...

I was under the impression that WKY was West of I65 (excluding Louisville). If that is true then Metcalfe, Green, and Monroe should all be excluded from WKY IMO.

From a high school sports perspective, I consider western Kentucky to be regions 1-4 ... that would include Monroe County and Metcalfe County and exclude Green County.

Under the realignment, it also includes Russell County, which isn't anywhere close to being in western Kentucky.

I'm confused. Isn't Green County in the same district as Metcalfe and Monroe? Also if we included 1-4 wouldn't that include Danville and Bardstown?

Not talking about the football alignment ... referring to the basketball-baseball regions.
1. Fort Campbell

2. Owensboro Catholic

3. Trigg County

4. Paducah Tilghman

5. Mayfield

6. Monroe County

7. McLean County

8. Murray

9. Caldwell County

10. Russellville

I have not been able to follow some of the smaller schools this year so it would be hard for me to rank them on my knowledge. I trust westsider's judgement on wky schools about as much as anyone's so I will cheat this week and go with his rankings as well.

Ok, but aren’t we doing a football poll? I’m just saying that if Metcalfe and Monroe are considered WKY for the purpose of this poll, then Green County should also be WKY, since they are in the same district as Metcalfe and Monroe and are geographically right above both counties.
