September 25, 200817 yr Im surprised nobody has brought up U2. They are argueably the best band of this era. They were also 80's but they made good stuff in the 90's. Where the streets have no names is a great song. 1. A few people have brought up U2. 2. I don't personally feel it, but I respect an argument of them being among the best in the era. 3. A lot more of their good stuff came from the 80's than 90's IMO. 4. For example, Where the Streets Have No Name, which was on Joshua Tree, which was released in... correct me if I'm wrong, 1987?

"Achtung Baby" was a great album, but since then, U2's work has been pretty regrettable. "Zooropa" was OK at best, but they pretty much should've quit after that. When you hold up their output from the '80s to everything after "Achtung Baby," it's like comparing Angelina Jolie to Rosie O'Donnell.
September 25, 200817 yr Smash was SUCH a better album than anything else I ever heard by them (not that the other songs you mention are bad, but Self-Esteem, Come Out and Play, Bad Habit, etc, are much better IMO). Absolutely love this song, I don't know how I missed it. :thumb: Offspring is a band I often overlook when I think of the 90's. Whenever I hear their stuff, I remember how much I like most of their songs.

September 25, 200817 yr Serious as a heart attack. Garth Brooks is a pox on the popular music landscape, and the worst kind of sellout — the kind whose sole motivation for making music is to cash in. I totally agree with that, but his version of Hard Luck Woman sucked.
