No doubt your mood following your reunion has a lot to do with the recent passing of your friend Julie. Nothing makes you look back and reminisce like an experience like that. Part of the grieving process. I bet your next class reunion will be much more positive.

 

Our class had a 5 year reunion. A classmate and I worked together on it (worked very hard in fact). The results were a good turnout, mostly made of people complaining how expensive it was and suggestions for how it can be done better.:madman: Our class was never a cohesive one.

 

Because it is small, Beechwood started an "all class" reunion about 22 years ago. This reunion is held every 5 years. The first one (in 1985) was a blast with a great showing from almost all classes. I have worked on two subsequest reunions, 15 years ago, and was in charge 10 years ago. The one thing I have noticed is that people who graduated in the 40's, 50's, 60's and early 70's show up regularly and have a great time. Grads after that seem to have very little interest in coming. I always wondered why that was.

 

My class unfortunately is one of the "little interest" group.

I had my 25 year reunion in July and understand SO MUCH of what you said in your first post.

 

I suppose one would say I was part of the "in" crowd. I played basketball and tennis, and was a drummer in the band. I was in so many cliques that I would talk to or ignore the same person several times during the same day depending on what group I was with at the time (just kidding). Actually, I pretty much hung around everybody but had very few truly close friends (not unlike the present).

As BF and others know, a large number of people that graduate from Highlands end up living in Ft. Thomas.

I absolutely loved high school...our class was very close. To this day we have had a reunion every 5 years since 1980! The last one was our 25th and attendance was down a bit. I still hang with 6 girlfriends from high school, we try to get together at least every 3 months.

I did not attend the first 3 or 4 class reunions maily because of all those old high school insecurities and little desire to attend. I was good friends/acquaintences with the "in crowd" but was never in the inner circle, but didn't feel the need. I had great friends who were like minded. At the urging of a class mate or two, I finally attended the last two or at least parts. It was actually quite enjoyable and most all were very decent and friendly. The best part of all was the reaction from those when they saw my wife, who is, trust me on this, extremely beautiful. There was only one or two at the entire reunion that I would put in her class. I just sat there and smiled.:ylsuper:
