In 30 years or so we'll probably be able to determine which of those two was right.

Here's another possible scenario...Bin Laden becomes responsible for another terrorist attack on US soil. It might then be said that if we hadn't diverted our attention off of him and onto Iraq, then we might have gotten Bin Laden and that future attack not occur.

As long as you're willing to argue that as long as there is no attack it's because we've kept them focused in Iraq.

The scenario I gave is only a possible outcome that some might attribute to our decision to focus on the Iraqi War. That doesn't make it so.
