The Colonels win the 15 offensive play format by a 4-2 score advantage.

 

However, Campbell Co. won the head-to-head scrimmage (4 downs or out) 16-7 in real game simulation.

 

CovCath: 1 TD (1 XP)

CampCo: 2 TD (1 XP) and 1 FG

So if you add everything up CCFC what was the score?

My #1 concern is the defense for the Colonels. Lots of unproven players on that side of the ball for the schedule they're up against. I think it will take a few games for the dust to settle on that side when it comes to figuring out who the best 11 are going to be.

I have to agree! Early in the season, the best "D" for CovCath just might be keeping the "O" on the field gaining first down after first down four yards at a time!

 

I think Coach Brossart will have to do what was done in 06 and that was to have his best football players play both sides of the ball, at least in games that must be won. With the size of the "O-line" I would put some of those young men up front on the "D-line" as not too many teams are going to push them around!

 

IMO, Special Teams will make or break this Colonel team!

The Camels looked pretty good on both sides of the ball. They swarm to the ball on defense, a couple blown coverages on pass plays though.

They have a couple backs that run the ball very hard, good receivers and two good Quarterbacks.

On a side note, there was a very nice crowd in attendance for both clubs (I guess due in part to the fact that the JV & Freshmen also scrimmaged on a split field). It made for a great atmosphere at a very nice football facility.

How did the frosh teams for both look?

Both teams have some very talented athletes and explosive offenses. CovCath won the overall Freshman scrimmage.

Yes, they were Taylor Katt, a Senior center, and Matt Carrigan, a Senior tight end.

CovCath had a strong showing against Ryle and against Campbell. Campbell sounds very solid. Could be the Northern KY area experts are underestimating the Camels.
