THAT right there would be the sign "We want to win and win now." That would be an intriguing addition. However, C.C. was rumored to be looking for a 6 year $130 Million contract BEFORE this season. He pitched 256 Innings in 2007 (including playoffs) and it looks like he'll be right around that total again. It might be even worse this season as Milwaukee has been riding him like a rented mule (which I guess in a sense he is since they probably won't be able to re-sign him) down the stretch. With his, let's just say questionable, conditioning habits would it be wise to have that much money tied up for that long? Big guys like him tend to lose it quickly when they lose it.
August 21, 200818 yr The Reds can not afford Sabathia, even with the extra money. And as it has been pointed out, there is not as much extra money as you would think after you take into account all the raises the Reds will have to give this offseason.
