Ludlow looked like they will be competitive in Class A this season. They had a descent passing attack and their ground game was clicking as well. Ludlow's defense was aggressive and got in Newport's back field. Newport's quarterback did a descent job managing the offense. Newport had a running back #30 who was awesome. This kid could move and make things happen. Newport's defense was descent - #12 the safety had a good outing but the corners were not impressive. Overall, not a bad showing.

Thanks for the post KillerCats. Who is #30 for the Cats? Short?

Ludlow may surprise some people this year with Mills and Montooth in the backfield. Or should I say, the "Goose is Loose" right DMX

Was this scrimmage down at Newport?

Scrimmage was at Newport and I believe #30 is Short.

Good to hear. Good luck to the Panthers and Coach Hornsby. Sounds like things are going in the right direction down there much the same way they did under Coach Hensley..

It was a decent scrimmage for both teams. Ludlow's running game did look pretty good and the defense pursued very well. Ludlow QB needs to release ball sooner on crossing routes, but overall a pretty good scrimmage for them.

#30 Cody Short has good speed and can run with power when he needs, was there any other stands outs for either team? #8 LB from Ludlow made a few nice plays.

#30 Cody Short for Newport is a nice back with good field vision. I liked the way he ran the ball. #8 for Ludlow is Braydon Mills.

Just stating what has become very obvious to all rather quickly.:ylsuper:

#12 for Newport is Willie Price who looks poised to have a strong senior season. I am looking forward to Collins at the Quarterback position the young man should do fine.

I also heard Ludlow was going to be tough.

I haven't heard about Newport.

Welcome to the BGP sportsgoon. Yeah I agree, Price should have a great year at the safety position but if the corners don't step up their play he will be a busy man trying to support the corners. Collins is a smart kid and should be fine at the QB spot.
