One thing imo that can absolutely be counted on with Obama is that ALL will be taxed on anything and everything.

McCain has pledged to drastically cut such a wide range of different types of taxes that the results on federal revenues would be disastrous. Most people on here don't like government and don't want to pay for it. These are the very same people who happily cash their Social Security checks, expect well-maintained roads, and want the biggest, baddest military the world has ever known. There's no free lunch--if you expect government to provide certain things, you should expect to pay for them. Recklessly cutting taxes without regard for the consequences doesn't stiff anyone except our children.

The Tax Policy Center analyzed both candidates' tax plans an concluded that Obama would cut the taxes of everyone making less than $227,000 per year. According to the analysis, tax cuts for incomes less than $112,000 would be greater under Obama's plan than under McCain's.

 

The lesson here is not to believe every claim that you do not verify independently.

2. Taxes on the rich effect the poor indirectly but still harshly. Has anyone on this board taken a loan? Or been a part of a business that took out a loan? Where does this money come from?

Aren't all candidates against pork barrel spending? Who besides Robert Byrd and Stevens from Alaska are actually "for" pork barrel spending?

So what we've concluded here is that if you are a big wage earner (ie the top 5%) or if you have a large capital gain, your pocketbook could be hit. However, for the other 90% have we concluded that the so-called "socialist" will not decrease their paycheck?

 

Is it possible that some have believed the hype without actually having checked into it?

 

Disclaimer: I'm not smart enough to know the right approach for the economy so this is in no way an endorsement of Obama's economic plan. As I've said, I'm not a big fan of "windfall taxes" on oil profits as I'll end up helping pay that tax. I have always been a fan of the trickle down approach IF spending is under control. However, we don't hold our representatives accountable for spending especially if it helps our little world we live in so we are to blame for the spending problem.

The gap between rich and poor has grown tremendously under the Bush tax cut policies which dramatically favor the rich. Like it or not, this is not a sustainable state of affairs in a democracy.

We always hear that from advocates of tax cuts heavily tilted toward the rich. But recent history does not support that premise. The economy was much more robust in the 1990s (before the Bush tax cuts) than it has been in the years since. Simple fact.

The Tax Policy Center is a joint venture between two liberal think tanks. The fact that the TPC's analysis is picked up and repeated by the mainstream media, which has demonstrated its political bias in an unprecedented way during this campaign, does not make its conclusions any more nonpartisan or unbiased.

 

I personally am opposed to raising the income tax rate on any taxpayer, especially on those who are already bearing most of the tax burden. Soaking the rich is not a moral way to finance the operation of the federal government.

:rolleyes:That one statement is the reason why I am trying not to post over here as much. I voiced an opinion like everyone else has. I try and stay away from personal attacks. That may not be what you meant but imo that statement was uncalled for.

 

As for any other answer or discussion I am done. I can see where this is going so talk with someone that agrees with you so all will seem fine.
