A source "very" close to this situation just informed me that the Red's have untill 7pm to match the offer, or it is a Dunn deal.

Say what? I thought if you were claimed off waivers there was a timeframe of a couple days that that team had to complete a trade for the player?

What do you mean by match the offer?

DEAR GOD, this could be the best day in my life. LET THE ANGELS HAVE HIM!

I dont know all of the detail's but do know for sure that 7 pm is the deadline for the Reds to decide what they will do.

I believe once placed into waivers, teams can make a claim for up to 48hrs. If a deadline is tonight, as you stated, then he was placed into waivers on Wed.

Also, a player doesn't have to be informed, they have been placed into waivers.

I assure you guys that this is from a very, very good source.

We might know the answer if Dunn isn't playing tonight.

The best plan that the Reds could come up with for Dunn was to waive him?

That is exactly how we will know for sure.

My thoughts exactlly. This sucks.

We heard at the trade deadline the Reds were happy with the team they had, they wanted to try and win games for this year. Well a god awful road trip and a bad start to this homestand maybe gave them all the answers they needed, see if anyone will take Dunn.

Not that these last few games have told us anything we didn't alread know, but there is no reason to tie up the franchise again in a HUGE contract with one player.

Nonethless, I'd love to know the last time the MLB HR leader was waived . . .

I'm not a big Dunn fan at all, but geez, trade him for 10 wood bats or something . . . .

As much as I want Dunn gone, I would agree that if the Reds don't get some quality prospects or MLB ready players in a return, the Reds will screw up big time.

As others have said, it will be nearly impossible to get anything of equal value for the numbers that Dunn puts up. I can admit that, as a matter of fact, it would be impossible to replace those numbers right away or in the near future.

Duun wasn't waived. Where did that come from? He was placed on waivers, and from there every other MLB team has a chance to claim him. The Reds will either trade him or pull him off waivers...
