July 30, 200818 yr He has been kind of inconsistant his career. He has a stretch of good games and then a stretch of so so games. If they want to win, they need to upgrade that position jmo. I don't think so. I mean don't get me wrong he is no Kidd, Paul, or Nash, but he fits in well at Houston and does a good job. The games he played poor in seemed to be the games where he didn't play to many minutes. He didn't play in 8 games. The Rockets were 4-4 without him in the lineup.
July 30, 200818 yr He was good last year. I don't know if he can keep it up though jmo. Alston has been doing a pretty good job since the 2003-2004 season. He's put up over 10 points a game and 5 assists every year since then. I know, not spectacular numbers, but it has got the job done.
July 31, 200818 yr Good pickup on defense but I dont see McGrady leading anyone too far. Eventhough this could make a big difference. I can't wait to see how this turns out.
July 31, 200818 yr This makes the Rockets a serious threat in the west, IMO, assuming their new big three all stay healthy. I like this trade for both teams actually. The Kings are in a re-building stage so adding a first round pick next year and a talent like Donte Green should help. Bobby Jackson is a guy who had success in Sacramento before, so he should be a solid addition to the roster. As for the Rockets, with Yao and T-Mac, their window is now and a guy like Artest is a huge addition. He's versatile, he can score, rebound, pass, and he'll immediately become the top defender on a team that is already one of the best in the league. On paper, this trade puts the Rockets at the top of the west along with the Lakers for the upcoming season.

There are 5 legit contenders in the west; Los Angeles, Houston, New Orleans, Utah and San Antonio. Personally, on paper, I'd rank the Lakers and Rockets at the top, slightly above New Orleans, with Utah and San Antonio just a notch below that. But, depending on how players develop and new additions via the draft or free agency impact the teams, I think all five of those teams are seriously gunning for an NBA championship.
