July 26, 200818 yr Scott McLellan was on with Matthews tonight and said that the White House regularly feed the daily talking points to the main anchors at Fox News who then spit them out as their own thoughts. While its not a surprise that Fox did this, its still disappointing that the govt would use a network to spread its propoganda. Its especially disappointing when the guy in the big chair is the guy you voted for.
July 26, 200818 yr And this is news to anyone........... My point exactly. Reason #548 why you don't watch any television news in this country. If you really want an unbiased view of what's going on, you have to go through online sources, which might even include overseas newspapers. Pretty sad, but it's been that way for some time now.

As press secretrary it was McCellan's job to get the Presidient's message to the public and the networks are one of the most effective tools. Limiting the president's message to one network is a disservice to the president. Also, I have no problem with the government communicating to the public (or as you call it spreading propaganda) through the networks. If this does concern you, then I would caution you to be careful what you wish for. The alternative is a government that doesn't let the people know what it is doing or the rational behind what it is doing.

July 26, 200818 yr This may be true, may not be true. I would like to hear someone other than Scotty Boy come forward. He has an agenda against the Bush White House and Fox news. At the same time, if somebody told me Tony Snow did this, it wouldn't surprise me, as he was very close to Fox and worked for them. George Stephanopolis probably did the same thing in the Clinton years to ABC. No shock that he went to work for them.
