I think the expansion into four classes was in 1975, so they probably were in the same district for several years.

 

Bell was quite a bit bigger then though, and like I said, nobody complained then.

 

I don't think that they ever where in the same district but I could be wrong someone told me that Middlesboro beat Bell County 26 years in a row and I could be wrong on that as well. I am just getting that from a former player that I went to college with at Eastern. He played during the early 90's and was on the State Championship team.

They may have been in the same district from 1959 to 1974. I think they were all 2A schools then.

From someone who knows the real reason Middlesboro will not play Bell,, Coach Greer has nothing to do with it.:dancingpa

Corbin, Middlesboro and Bell were in the same 2A district for years. The winner of the district went to the playoffs. other 2 stayed home.

 

Corbin and Bell played every year for as long as I can remember, Bell NEVER beat Corbin until the late 80's/early 90's.

 

Since the mid 70's there have been 4 classes. For a while there were "5" with A, AA, AAA, AAAA and Jefferson Co. 4A.

If everyone from Corbin/Middlesboro---- and Bell knew the circumstances I don't think this thread would exist. The question would probably be about the God err..... coach at Bell.
