Track The Reds (Week 15)

Mike Sciossa and other managers manufacture runs earlier in the game - not with 2 outs in the 9th.

No reason to send Phillips there. With 2 outs, he's running on contact and a base hit would possibly score him. With Jr. at the plate, you don't want to take the bat out of his hands.

I think it was 2-2 in the 8th when that happened. I'm not going to lie, I had a long night last night and only watched an inning. After Dunn doubled Kepp off and Griff struck out with Phillips still on 1st to end the inning I had seen enough. I still would have sent Phillips even if it was tied in the 9th. A basehit scores him from second not from 1st.

I was right it was in the 8th. In a 2-2 game in the 8th I don't understand why you wouldn't manufacture a run? Worst case is he gets caught now you have Griff leading off the 9th with the pitchers spot up 2nd.

My mistake, I thought it was in the 9th. I actually missed the game as well...went to watch it with a few friends, only to learn that the friends' house that we went to had their cable turned off. :irked:

Anyway, Phillips is capable of scoring from 1st on a base hit with 2 outs. Depending on where the ball is hit, obviously.

As bad as the Reds are, they would be 1.5 games out of first place in the NL West

I was looking at that the other day, just stunning. You could take it a step further and say that the Astros and Pirates would be "in the hunt" in the West. Just sad.
