There is no way he's going to be able to pay for the new programs such as his healthcare plan without increasing taxes, whether it be income taxes or others. I see no way possible for him to implement the things he wants to without increasing taxes....Does that pass the RM test or should I just refrain from posting?

You stated earlier that you are better off now than you were 8 years ago. Thus implying that you are happy with what George W. Bush has done for you.

 

Under George W. Bush our government has created many federally funded programs. One big example is the entire Department of Homeland Security. Even with all the spending George W. Bush has done, you are better off, right? So what makes you think Obama creating new programs will hurt you in some way? Could he not cut other programs out and save money in some places while spending it in others?

Could he? Yes, I'll go ahead and assume that it could happen. I personally don't see it very likely. I said, I'm better off than I was 8 years ago, not that I'm happy with the current administration. I don't agree with some of the things Bush did, especially his irresponsible spending and as you mentioned, making the government much larger, although his creation of the DHS was a direct result of 9/11 if I remember correctly, so I do give him some lee-way for that. I just see no way of Obama, or anyone for that matter making our government any larger without raising taxes.

I don't see how anyone at this point, with how large our government has become, can make it any larger without having some of the cost put on the taxpayers. I don't care if it's Obama, Bush, McCain, or JFK, I don't see how anyone at this point can do it without increasing taxes. Believe me, if Obama is elected, I hope he finds a way to do it, and I hope I'm wrong, I just don't think it's possible.
