Pepsi's CEO doesn't agree because he has lots of competition. If Pepsi tries to raise their prices too high, I can stop drinking Pepsi and start with Coke, stop drinking soft drinks and go to water, etc. Why? Because other companies have come up with alternatives.

 

Southwest Airlines: same thing. I can fly another airline. I can drive. I can stay home.

 

I may not like how much gas costs but for the most part I have no alternative other than , as I said previously, using less by either driving less or buying a more fuel efficient car. That's not the oil companies' problem. That's my problem. If an acceptable alternative comes out, the oil companies will suffer and eventually go away - just like the market always does.

 

Your real beef should not be with the oil companies. It should be with the government and , more importantly, it should be with the voting members of society. We failed to demand alternatives. We were fat and happy with $1 gas. Now, as Malcolm X said, "the chickens have come home to roost."

 

Its our fault and now we have to live with it.

 

I know we have morons in congress, their approval rating is worse than Bush's. Drilling will take a while but we must increase supply but I do not believe there will be many gasoline cars on the road in 2050.

Since it seems to many Americans that it's Bush's and the evil Republicans fault that gas prices are so high (after all, they're all in bed with Big Oil) and we're not permitted to drill in the areas we know there is oil. What's the answer?

If you were in charge, what would you do to bring prices down? What do you think Obama or our saving grace the Democrats can implement to make oil cheaper?

 

I don't blame the president for high gas prices and I think its funny when people do blame the president.

Why should big oil settle for 100 million dollar profits when they can get 100 billion dollar profits from us? Next time you pay 25% more for tires or food thank big oil. Of course, two problems... Barack doesn't agree that they should be making billion dollar profits and Bush has destroyed the GOP. I'd sell any stock before Nov.

 

I do not like the high prices on anything, but I believe in the free enterprise system. If you want a regulated economy there are many of them in world, maybe you should check them out before wanting such a system here in the USA.

It may not be perfect, but better than anything else the world has to offer.

I forgot to mention I do not own any stock what so ever. I just believe that trying to regulate profits cause more problems than it solves. In addition to no stock, I also belong to the NRA, but do not own a gun.
