May 27, 200818 yr Well, then...Thank God for the 12th Ammendment! We agree on something for very different reasons!
May 27, 200818 yr No, the important wording is found in the 12th amendment: The person having the greatest number of votes as Vice-President, shall be the Vice-President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed, and if no person have a majority, then from the two highest numbers on the list, the Senate shall choose the Vice-President; a quorum for the purpose shall consist of two-thirds of the whole number of Senators, and a majority of the whole number shall be necessary to a choice. But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States. Bill Clinton is eligible to be President... he just isn't eligible to be elected President.
May 28, 200818 yr "If" so (Cigar man as vp), I just threw up in my mouth. The man was a great President!
May 28, 200818 yr The man was a great President! PUH-LEEZ!!!! I agree with Old Rambler. He disgraced the office for heaven sake!
May 28, 200818 yr The man was a great President! I am totally in favor of Obama putting Bill Clinton on his ticket. We can sort out the legalities of his candidacy later, if necessary.
May 28, 200818 yr PUH-LEEZ!!!! I agree with Old Rambler. He disgraced the office for heaven sake!I agree, but I believe that an Obama presidency would have all of us longing for the good old days of the Clinton years. Obama might even do the impossible - make Jimmy Carter look good. :scared:
May 28, 200818 yr PUH-LEEZ!!!! I agree with Old Rambler. He disgraced the office for heaven sake! His presidency was one of the most peacful and prosperous times in American history! He had a bit to much fun in the oval office but thats besides the point...
May 28, 200818 yr I agree, but I believe that an Obama presidency would have all of us longing for the good old days of the Clinton years. Obama might even do the impossible - make Jimmy Carter look good. :scared: Thats a huge stretch IMHO...

May 28, 200818 yr W has already accomplished both feats...You are obviously too young to remember much about the Carter era. I may be mistaken, but I believe that the following Hee Haw song became popular during the Carter presidency: "Gloom, despair and agony on me-e! Deep dark depression, excessive misery-y! If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all! Gloom, despair and agony on me-e-e!" The song could easily have been Carter's campaign song.
May 28, 200818 yr To suggest that I'm too young to know much about any period of American history shows only that you haven't been around on this site long enough to know me. Even my most entrenched sparring partners in this forum wouldn't say that. In fact, I would consider it a personal attack if I weren't so magnanimous.

May 28, 200818 yr My mother fits the criteria for all those things, and says that Bush is worse... surely her age renders her judgement unimpeachable on the matter (by your own failed logic, you'll have to find a way to dive into your bellybutton.)

Carter was one and done, and most of us hoped he would become just a bad memory. However, I did appreciate his brother Billy's understanding of our capitalist system.
