LBBC, I don't think that I have ever used the word "Christian" in any of these posts, but that is not my intent. My point is that why are we fighting this war? To promote democracy and freedom amongst people we don't like and who we feel doesn't serve a religion that is worthy of our respect?

Now, to your point. I don't think religion is relevant to basic human rights. That said, I would say it is more important for a Christian to open up a country to basic human rights than it is a country that already has them.

 

The reason being is to be able to go into that country and work on converting people to Jesus Christ who said he is the only Way to knowing God, His Father.

 

If we don't work on opening up Iraq to basic human rights than we might lose millions of people to an eternal darnation because Christian missionaries are not able to get into that country.

LBBC - I know that YOURS reasons are moral and altuistic. I wish I could say that I felt that it was the same for the rest of our country.

Read about this in the newspaper today. I must say that's some pretty poor judgment by the sniper who did this. Also pretty tasteless and disrespectful as well.

No problem with it at all.

Stupid would be my thought. But, it's all about the current circumstances...he should have used better judgement. Of course, it's pretty easy to criticize someone when I'm sitting here in relative comfort. How would my frame of mind be if I were in the Middle East in the middle of a war?

 

Considering the situation and knowing the kind of reaction it would/could trigger, they should know better. But, in a normal setting if someone wanted to do it, I say, "To each his own."
