Smith is pretty close to a top 5-10 player. He could play for anybody.

Green has a world of talent. He needs a little more consistency, but he's close to being an elite player in the region.

I agree that their talent is as good as anyone, but their coaching is suspect. It has seemed to be that way for last several years.

It is also why these kids cant reach their potential. If there was someone there to develop these players, they very well could top 5 caliber players. You can't give a kid a top 5 label just based on potential either.

If you knew anything about coaching, you would understand that it is tough when your top three or four players are so young. Now these kids are uperclasemen, lets see how they do now.

Here is the 1 big thing that just kills Middlesboro every year. They play NO defense. They tend to be flashy and put points up on the board, but they are not willing to get down and guard anyone consistently. This continues to plague them year after year. I think it would be pretty hard to argue that. I still haven't seen their defense improve under the new Jones coach.

They score a lot of points but it is hard to outscore people throughout the entire post season. Good assessment.

It should mean something to you,"LITTLE ABOUT IT" thats the problem. My 9 year old knows a little about it but that dont make him a coach.This coach jones took over a young team with alot of bad habbits and it takes a little while to break those habbits. There defense improved last year and i think it will improve this year.

I have been well acquainted with the M'boro football team - they beat my team 3 out of four years. They are always loaded with talent and athleticism. They are also a very disciplined team.

 

I'm sure that the basketball players are no different than the football players, which means they, too, can be discipline and play defense. I think a good summer program would eliminate most of the bad habits - if he stresses discipline.

They still lost a lot of games to regional opponents. Thats a little misleading. The region was very young last year. South Laurel, Bell Co., Knox Central, and Corbin all had really young teams, which means offenses in general were not as strong this year. I wish Coach Jones the best, but after 2 seasons you shouldnt still be making excuses for poor defense and blaming the previous coach, although he wasn't very good. That just doesn't fly.
