Adams has had a pretty nice year, not just home runs. Is there more to what you are saying or should we read between the lines?

Ok, but no comments on the other accomplishments he has made this year. I guess I should have made myself clearer, but I thought it was evident that Adams was one of the front runners for the award or am I wrong?

I don't see it being anyone other than Maile, but I guess I could be wrong...

I think it will be either Maile or Farris

If you are going by stats and performance this would be my top 3 right now:

 

1) Maile

2) Adams

3) Farris

 

 

 

However I think Adams and Farris are more important to their respective teams than Maile is. I understand that Maile is having another great year, but they have a good core surrounding him with the likes of Ryan Darner, Zach Isler, Brandon Nutini, and Niehaus.

 

Scott and Boone County though don't have that luxury of those high caliber players.

It's not MVP though it's POY, so it really should be just based on the best performance.

The simple fact of the matter is that POY is an offensive and/or pitching stat-based award. You really can't factor in a player's defensive/leadership value at a catcher or centerfielder or SS or whatever position because it's just too subjective and there's no published stats in those areas. You also can't really say which particular player means the most to their respective team because that it also extremely subjective. Ultimately, it comes down to stats, which is why I stated in another thread that you do have to look closely at the competition against which some players built their stats. Heck, there's some Heritage players right now that have some very, very nice stats. Why does no one ever talk about them? (answer is obvious). I would agree with GG that Adams has to be strongly considered, given his stats at the plate and on the mound. Reardon is also having a great season. Nichols, Elliott, and Muench are all players that are putting up nice stats both hitting and pitching. I just don't see this as a Maile/Farris two-way race by any means. In fact, I would submit that Farris hasn't had quite the year many expected out of him.

Hitting. And, yes, hitting against better competition than most. But there are some other candidates that have also put together some very nice pitching stats in addition to very solid hitting stats. They clearly deserve to be legitimately considered. Just my opinion, but I hardly see this as a lockdown runaway award for Maile.

I agree and no excuses but he was asked to be a catcher and really didn't get to showcase were his real talent is in the outfield. That can also factor in to what you do at the plate. He still is one of the players who not only in the region, but in the state, that can beat your team single handed. My POY finalist would be Maile, Adams, Farris, Nichols, Muench.

I can agree with that list.

 

Won't the POY be announced here soon before the postseason gets too far?

And if I believe so the all area team gets announced too around the same time.
