I absolultely admire Coach D. Havent seen him in a long time but I would think he is a great person to have around. When I played for him he taught us not only to respect and love the game of baseball but the tradition of Owen County baseball as well.

I can't begin to express what Coach Dunavent has meant to me over the years and I played for a rival school during the 70's, which I consider Owen's glory years.

There are some great kids (juniors) on this team, but don't tell me #20 isn't trying to be a leader. Did you see the game tonight? Why give up on this season? It's not over. Sounds like our losing football coach from last fall. Heck with the seniors lets work on next year? There ain't no next year for them.

20ROOK,

You're right about 20, and about the season not being over. They just need more than one kid take ownership. If that happened, things could turn quick.

Playing some of the most disciplined and well coached teams in the state is bound to exposed your weaknesses. But then again, if you don't know where your weaknesses are, you can't get any better.

Owen could have scheduled weaker teams with losing record, and could have a better record than 7-13, but they probably wouldn't have made the improvements they have made during the season.

After beating Gallatin, you'd have to give them as good of a shot as any to win the district.

Hopefully they are working on things that will get them better for next season, the post-season.

Talk with one of the parents after that game. Said it has been a disappointing year. They thought that their pitching was gonna be stronger than it is. No leadership from the seniors apparently. Said they have a couple juniors that stay around after each game that helps with the field. It like I said, that is where the coach needs to step up and put his foot down. You don't have to be a senior to be a leader..Let someone else step up in the role. Apparently the kids never know what position they are going to be playing at each given game. That also makes it hard for a player to even do well at one spot. At this point have fun and focus on what you need to do for next year. Aren't they in the All A next season?

As for the seniors I believe there are only 4 and most of them aren't in the game that often. Ogden is in the most either on the mound or in CF. It is hard for one senior to do it all. We just had such great seasons the last 2 years that this year is disappointing but the season is not over yet.

Sorry for saying all seniors. Ogden is a good pitcher. He is the only one that acts like he cares about the game. Don't really know much about the other seniors, but was told that they lacked senior leadership. Sounds like Ogden needs other seniors to step up to the plate and help out a little. He has always pitched well even as a freshman. They have a good chance of winning the district. They beat Henry at Henry.

There is only 1 senior left on the team now. The others were ineligible to play because of grades or something else, so they quit.

I assume it is Ogden that is left. Hang in there kid.........Don't let the other Seniors bring you down.

From what I have seen and know of him I don't believe their will be any quit in Ogden.
