Jake Nordman, as a matter of fact, isn't actually on the roster. He's a score-keeper who I hear is loved by everybody in the organization. Rumor is Rick Kramer is the 1st string scorekeeper though. He needs to step his game up to get some quality playing time.

Back to Maile.....He would more than likely, if given an offer he would like, go in a heartbeat to LSU. Not counting UK out of the question (or any other of the 53,884 school looking at him), but LSU would be his first choice.

The best part is, if you get to talk to the kid, he will take the limelight off himself and direct it to his teammates instead.

Darner, Isler, and Nutini all are very, very, good baseball players in their own right, but they will benefit greatly because of having a ton of College Scouts coming out to watch Luke play. My guess is that CovCath will have 4 D1 baseball signings out of that 2009 class.

Speaking of him playing D-1, which schools are the most interested in him?

The majority of the big-time programs.

Its very easy to say "keep it low" or "in on his hands." The challenge is that not many high school pitchers have that much control.

How does Luke compare to other top hitters in the past?

CC, if you are talking about the CovCath past, then from what I have seen over my many years, could be one of the best, if not the best, but remember different times different bats....although he hit the ball just as hard during the Doc Morris Wooden Bat tourney.

Luke can and does hit with power, but is patience enough at the plate to take the walk, or just drive the ball to the opposite field. For a guy who hits with power, he doesn't strike out, and he understands the strike zone. He is not just a fast ball hitter, but can hit the curve ball, and is more than quick enough to steal a base when need be and goes easily from first to third on a single. Yea I would say if not the best, then in the top two or three, and remember he still has his Senior year left to play.

As a pitcher myself I have the faith in my stuff to pitch to Luke. If he beats me, he beats me and I tip my cap to him. Yes I would have to pitch smarter to him then I would to most others but I wouldn't avoid him.

He's a hitter. But there are plenty of hitters in the state, and have been before. People pitched to John Shelby when he came through, and to Ben Revere last year. Thats why they put up the numbers they do.

Your team is down 1-0 already...

Not if you pitch smart. With a defense behind me I reckon things could work out in my team's favor.

:rolleyes: Just a tad bit of an overstatement. So NKY pitchers should never pitch to the likes of Farris, Maile, Elliott, Nichols, etc?? Just pretty much throw in the towel and accept defeat before throwing a pitch, huh? They're all good, but none of them yet have a plaque in the HOF.

I am right there with you. I have personally pitched to Farris before with success. Yes he has got hits off me but he also got outs. I have also pitched against Nichols in intrasquad games and have had success as well. Saying that a team is going to be down a run just because they choose to pitch to a great hitter is ridiculous. In baseball if you fail 7 out of 10 times as a hitter you are successful, which is good for pitchers.

I was just slightly joking guys.... easy.

Yeah I agree, but just so you know Maile hits closer to .500 then .300. Also, no offense to Farris, but Maile is a more complete hitter at this point or in other words a tougher out. Farris and Maile are by far the class of Nky though. Nichols is not on the same level nor are any other guys mentioned.
