What about Landon Slone? No one has said much about him. Was he at the try-outs? If so, how did he look?

After watching the try-outs, and the offense they plan to utilize my starting five would be and others would be....

Scotty Hopson - UHA

Darius Miller - Mason Co.

Victor Moses - Henry Clay

 

Tyshawn Edmondson - UHA

Michael Sparks - Tates Creek

Taylor Stewart- Taylor Stewart

Corey Sorrell - Cov. Holy Cross

Desmond Johnson - Cumberland Co.

 

Aaron Morris - Madison Central

Arrez Henderson - Holmes

Nick Brumback - Jackson Co. (Alt)

Kalen Kimberland - Adair Co. (Alt.)

 

I know there are some popular names left off this list, but these are the players I thought had the best try-out other than Hopson and Miller. The other kids trying out were told that those two were already on the team.

 

Just my opinion, the last four spots could have gone to any of about 12 kids. I don't envy the coaches having to make the final decision on the last four kids.

It's a little different now than the Allstate votings and playing regular season games in certain regions. The talent level is higher now and the comp is much more intense. There will be some names left off that some felt were locks to make the squad.

Judging by what Ive been hearing I think my original prediction looks good with maybe a couple of exceptions:

I heard today that Desmond Johnson has looked as good as anyone there. Obviously, Hopson and Miller hasn't been there, but Johnson has stoodout among the crowd. I've even heard that Georgetown has made a few calls to the Cumberland coaches.

In addition to that, Morehead St. offered him a scholarship, but he would have to sit out the first year. Johnson doesn't know if he wants to do that.

In the past they announced on Sunday with all of the kids present. Pretty awkward for the kids who did not make it. Now the coaches are not in a hurry to put a team together and it lets the kids be with their parents when they announce the teams.

I've not heard anything about that. I know his ACT is good enough to play immediately at LMU, but I'm not sure if the scale is the same with all schools.

I think Slone will make the team, but I doubt Stepp or Setty will. Based on what I heard they didn't look that good at the try-outs, especially Setty. This is a very deep roster this year, so a lot of good players will not be making the Squad.

3 guys that I have heard had really good tryouts today were Moorman, Victor Moses, and Tyler Brown.
