In my opinion, the Hall Middle School coaches are top notch! If I had a kid, that is where I would send him/her. They seem to prepare their players for the next level. :thumb:

I'd say that "Evarts" has coached his last junior high game in the county schools. Jones will have control over what the junior high coaches teach (fundamentals wise), and will not have someone coaching the county kids while his son goes to the city.

 

From what I've been told....... any junior high coach that doesn't agree to teach what Jones wants, then they will be released of their coaching duties.

 

I would think that is the best way to build a program! If the base isn't strong, the rest will fall!

That is so true! Being involved in one of these schools, I can tell you first hand that a lot of these kids aren't taught anything. Another coach and me have started working with 3rd graders at our school, trying to break the chain of bad fundamentals - it is a tough job, too!!! But, it is the only way they're going to improve.

What would be your legal argument in a case like that if you were defending the coach?

 

Likely none if someone else was hired by the site-base to coach, so long as it was another school employee, but are we cutting the tenured teacher's job based on where their child goes to school? That might be different.

I think we all need to get on board or simply jump ship. Just let everyone know so we are all on the same page. I can promise that wouldn't happen at Bell High or other county schools.:thumb:

Some really ( GREAT) news is coming in the very near future for the Harlan County Basketball Black Bears. I don't want to jump the gun so all I am going to say is if this comes to light it will be very big for this first year program. Stay tuned!

I have no idea of the news...but this thread needs to get going again. Any surprise standout from summer practice? My darkhorse is Miller from Cumberland (will be a sophomore).

I heard that Miller could really turn out to be a good player. Supposedly, he was very impressive during the open gym period, but I haven't heard much since actual practice has started.

 

I want to know the news! Could there be a transfer in place?
