The Trinity Powerlifting Team won the NASA High School Powerlifting National Championships this past weekend in Oklahoma City. Trinity won the Junior Varsity, Varsity, and the Overall Combined. This is the first time a school has won all 3 Divisions!

Trigg county won overall.

Trigg County DID win the overall as well as the 2A. (I do believe that Trinity was minus a lifter or two). Not taking ANYTHING away from Trigg, they had a lot of lifters who did real well!:thumb:

Aren't these weight-lifting competitions kind of like their cheerleading counterparts? Not to diminish the effort put forth by the participants and coaches, but how competitive are they really?

If you have not been to one, you should go. They are very competitive!

 

The middle weight classes (165-195) are very impressive every year. The lifters do very good job overall and really "put out" to win their classes!

 

It is very satisfying to watch all lifters when they reach a "personal best".

Even more exciting watching these guys break state records.

Something about St.X does a different style or form in the USA Powerlifting Junior Nationals that have qualifying standards on certain lifts that are different than what T or most schools in Ky does.The Tigers win the National Championship almost every year as well in Nebraska. Kind of like UK cheerleaders never compete with UL for some reason.

^ That's what I was thinking... well, both teams get kudos for their accomplishments! I do wish they'd come to some common lifting grounds and go head to head as the schools enjoy competition in just about everything else.

I may be mistaken, but didn't St. X compete in the same event last year?

To answer my own question, yes St. X did compete in the NASA event for 2007. Finished second to Trinity in the Fr-Sr Combined competition.
